The neighbors are friendly, but unobtrusive and it safe to take a stroll through the neighborhood. There are several very nice parks for families to enjoy and quick access to a walking and biking path that goes through several neighboring towns. In the summer months, there is a Go-Cart course and Putt-Putt Golf located 5 minutes from this home. There is ample choices for dining and shopping close by. Ours is a historical 13 room Victorian farmhouse in the Village of Lexington Ohio, near Mansfield. Built in 1903 by nationally renowned inventor and electrical engineer Harry Smith. The home has hosted Henry Ford, Wilbur and Orville Wright, Thomas Edison, Charles Kettering and Louis Bromfield. Mr Smith held over 400 patents, individually and while associated with GM, Delco Remy, Frigidaire, General Electric. and Charles Kettering, inventor of the electric starter ,the modern diesel engine and CEO and largest stockholder of GM. At age 19, Mr. Smith built, managed and owned the Ohio Electric Power Company while still an engineering student at The Ohio State University. He later sold the plant to the Ohio Edison company in 1917. From 1918 thru 1939, he was the Chief Patent Engineer for Delco, Frigidaire an General Electric in Dayton Ohio. He retired from Mr. Kettering’s companies in 939, but continued to consult for Kettering throughout their lifetime. Returning to Lexington and this home they built early in their marriage, Mr smith and his wife Carrie were generouis local philanthropists , both with their time and resources. They had 4 children and their great grandchildren are still prominent business people in the Lexington area. The Inn was aquired in 2014 by Pamela and David Waleri, who have had many experiences in the hospitality business. The Inn has 13 rooms and 7 bedrooms, each with en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and period decor.
